Wines of Portugal on Wine Enthusiast "Top 100 Cellar Selection"
The Wines of Portugal totaled 6 positions in the prestigious Top 100 Cellar Selection of Wine Enthusiast Magazine
The Magazine Wine Enthusiast distinguishes every year the best wines with potential to evolve and improve for many years in the cellar. This year, the wine Casa Ferreirinha 2004 Tinto Barca Velha (Douro) is the highest ranked in 9th place with a rating of 99 points. The Douro Region was even highlighted on the “Top 100 Cellar Selection” 2014 with two more wines namely Quinta do Vale Meão 2011 Red in 19th place (96 points) and Quinta Vale Dona Maria 2011 Vinha do Rio in 40th place (96 points).
The port wine Dow's 2012 Quinta Senhora da Ribeira Vintage Port was distinguished in 52th place with 95 points. The Dão region featured in the top with Quinta de Lemos 2009 Touriga Nacional, ranked in 77th place with 94 points and the Península de Setúbal region highlighted with the Bacalhôa Wines of Portugal 2009 Palácio de Bacalhôa ranked in 82th place with94 points.
In 2014, just over 17,000 wines were reviewed by the Wine Enthusiast editors, from that total; a mere six percent merited the Cellar Selection designation.
